I recently got back into reviewing books after nearly a year off. It all got a bit much, what with Craig and I splitting up and not knowing where I was most days, let alone where my books were!
I started again in around September and I forgot how much I loved it. I work with two amazing book tour companies and November was one of my busiest months to date with 14 books read! Here’s a little breakdown of some of them - but my full reviews are on Instagram (@Bookswith_gina).
November 1st: Hytharo Redux by Jonathan Weiss.
I read a lot of dystopia novels and none of them have gripped me like Hytharo Redux! I devoured this book and loved how the plot unfolded - 4 ⭐
November 2nd: Through the Snow Globe by Annie Rains.
I haven't read a book in a long time where I was so in tune with one of the main characters. Diana keeps everything bottled up, her teen physical therapy patient calls her Elsa and it's not coz she looks like the Disney Princess. All the feels with this one - 4 ⭐
November 7th: Diary of Murders by Sarah Cook.
Miriam is a great character, I love how in tune with her body she is - especially for the era she is in. Her sexuality is important to her as is her autonomy and I really felt that through the writing. John starts out quite timid, I thought, but soon realises how much he needs Miriam - 4 ⭐
November 8th: Best Served Cold by Gabriel Galletti.
As a bit of a true crime fan, I love murder thrillers. They fascinate me and it's always better when the lead has a problem. This time we're with Chad, former footballer turned psychologist. He has a little teeny tiny drug habit due to a knee injury. However, he isn't like the standard leads in these types of novels - he has a heart, he's trying to get better - 4 ⭐
November 10th: The Christmas Holiday by Mikayla Davids
I absolutely devoured this book, it was gripping! There were so many different little hidden messages at the end of each chapter, that it was hard to fully get to the bottom of what was happening, but when you figured it out - wooh boy, it was a good one - 5 ⭐
November 25th - The Genius Killer by Mark Robson.
This was an audiobook tour and the narrator, Anna Wilson-Hall was incredible! Her voice acting is amazing and you knew exactly which character was which. The plot was devious, thrilling and extremely sinister. It was perfect winter listening - 5 ⭐
